Former Spain and Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has reached an agreement to buy Sevilla, the club where he began his professional career, according to Spanish media reports.
Ramos and investment group Five Eleven Capital have reportedly agreed terms with Sevilla’s major shareholders for a takeover of the La Liga club. The deal is valued at about €450 million, including debt, and still requires formal documentation and approval from Spain’s Higher Sports Council.
The move would mark a dramatic homecoming for Ramos, who came through Sevilla’s academy and played for the first team from 2003 to 2005 before joining Real Madrid. He later returned to Sevilla for the 2023-24 season.
Sevilla have endured a difficult campaign and are fighting to secure their top-flight status. Reports said payment terms may vary depending on whether the club remains in La Liga or is relegated.
If completed, the takeover would place Ramos among a growing group of former football stars moving into club ownership. For Sevilla supporters, the deal carries emotional weight, but also major questions about debt, sporting direction and whether Ramos’ group can restore stability to one of Spain’s most successful clubs.
