UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has held discussions with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the security of the Strait of Hormuz, amid growing concerns over regional tensions.
According to official statements, the talks focused on the importance of maintaining stability in the vital shipping route, which is critical for global energy supplies. Both leaders emphasised the need to ensure freedom of navigation and prevent further escalation in the area.
The conversation comes as heightened conflict in the Middle East raises fears of disruptions to oil shipments passing through the strait. Starmer reiterated the UK’s commitment to working with international partners to safeguard maritime security and support de-escalation efforts.
The discussions highlight ongoing diplomatic engagement between London and Riyadh as global powers seek to prevent the situation from worsening and protect key economic interests tied to the waterway.
