The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has criticised Omoyele Sowore over his conduct in court, stating that judicial proceedings should not be reduced to “advocacy theatrics.”
In a statement, the association expressed concern about Sowore’s actions during a recent hearing, emphasising that while litigants and counsel have the right to present their cases, such engagements must be carried out with decorum and respect for the court.
The NBA noted that the courtroom remains a formal environment governed by established rules and procedures, warning that behaviour perceived as disruptive or theatrical undermines the administration of justice.
It stressed that advocacy must be firm but measured, adding that adherence to professional standards is essential to maintaining the integrity of the legal process.
The association urged all parties appearing before the courts to uphold discipline and civility, reiterating that respect for judicial institutions is fundamental to the rule of law.
