Hezbollah has condemned Israel’s announcement to occupy large areas of southern Lebanon up to the Litani River, describing the move as an “existential threat” to the country. The group vowed to resist any Israeli advance, warning that it would take all necessary measures to defend Lebanese territory.
In a statement, senior Hezbollah officials emphasized that the planned occupation would destabilize the region and escalate hostilities, signaling the group’s readiness to confront Israel militarily if the operation proceeds.
The declaration comes in response to comments by Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz, who outlined plans to establish a “defensive security zone” to counter rocket and drone threats from Hezbollah. Analysts warn that the development could significantly heighten tensions along the Israel‑Lebanon border and complicate international efforts to contain the conflict.
