Lecturers at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, have announced a strike starting Wednesday in protest over incomplete salary payments for January and February 2026.
The decision was made during an emergency union congress on Tuesday, where members condemned what they described as “amputated” salaries. Sources said staff at the Akoka campus were denied the Earned Academic Allowance (EAA), while Idi-Araba campus lecturers missed both EAA and CATA payments.
“After thorough deliberations, Congress noted that partial salaries were paid for January and February 2026. This action undermines decency and portrays the administration as unfeeling,” a source said.
The union resolved to suspend all academic and administrative duties until full salaries are paid.
