President Bola Tinubu has expressed sorrow over the death of Rear Admiral Musa Katagum, Chief of Naval Operations of the Nigerian Navy, who passed away on February 19, 2026, after a prolonged illness.
The president extended condolences to the late officer’s family, personnel of the Nigerian Navy, and the leadership of the Armed Forces of Nigeria. He described Katagum’s death as a significant loss to both the military and the nation, citing his extensive experience and contributions to national service.
Rear Admiral Katagum previously held several key positions, including Director of Presidential Communication, Command and Control Centre (PC4), and Chief of Intelligence of the Nigerian Navy, before his appointment as Chief of Operations in November last year.
Tinubu praised the late officer’s courage, leadership, and role in mentoring younger officers, and prayed for Almighty Allah to grant him eternal rest while comforting his family and colleagues during this period of mourning.
