Abuja, Nigeria — Senator Ned Nwoko has denied allegations of domestic violence made by his wife, Nollywood actor Regina Daniels, after a viral video showed her distressed and complaining about “violence” in their home.
“In Ned Nwoko’s house I am nothing, but in my own house I am a queen… I can’t stand the violence, it’s too much,” Daniels is heard saying in the clip, which drew widespread reactions online, including from a man identified as her brother, who vowed on Instagram to defend her.
Responding on X (formerly Twitter), Nwoko rejected the abuse claims and attributed recent tensions to what he described as Daniels’ “battle with drugs and alcohol abuse.”
“Regina was not always like this. Her current battle with drugs and alcohol abuse is the root of our problem. She must continue her rehabilitation program, or I fear for her life and safety,” he wrote, adding that his conditions include rehab in Abuja’s Asokoro or abroad, “especially Jordan, where she will not have access to drugs.”
Nwoko further alleged that Daniels had displayed violent behavior in recent days, claiming she assaulted three domestic staff and damaged property. He also accused two individuals—identified only as “Sammy” and “Ann”—of supplying drugs to his wife.
“I have other wives, and none will ever accuse me of violence,” the senator said, reiterating that he has “never been violent” and urging Daniels to continue treatment.
As of press time, Daniels had not issued a detailed public response beyond the viral video. The claims and counterclaims have not been independently verified, and representatives for both parties were not immediately available for comment.
The episode has reignited debate on domestic disputes involving public figures, with advocates urging discretion and professional intervention. Mental health and family support experts recommend that parties in publicized domestic conflicts seek confidential counseling and, where relevant, medical evaluation to ensure safety and due process.
