Nigerian security forces have successfully repelled an attack by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Borno State, neutralising 38 terrorists, the military confirmed.
According to a statement from the Nigerian Army, troops engaged the insurgents during a coordinated operation in the northeastern region, preventing them from causing further destruction or civilian casualties. Several weapons and equipment were reportedly recovered from the attackers.
The military emphasized that the operation demonstrates its continued commitment to securing communities in Borno and surrounding states against insurgent activities. Local authorities welcomed the development, noting the impact of sustained military pressure on weakening ISWAP’s operational capabilities.
This latest encounter underscores ongoing efforts by Nigerian forces to combat terrorism in the northeast, a region long affected by insurgency and armed group attacks.
