Former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has alleged that he may be arrested by the Federal Government led by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
El-Rufai, who is now a leading member of the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC), made the claim during an interview with BBC Hausa on Wednesday. He accused the ruling APC of exerting pressure on political figures to either join the party or remain loyal to it.
The ex-governor, who governed Kaduna State for eight years under the APC, has recently stepped up his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the ruling party. According to him, some of his former associates have already been taken into custody.
“Four people we worked with in Kaduna have been arrested; so it’s only a matter of time before they come for me too,” he stated.
His comments come amid the arrest and ongoing prosecution of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.
