The President-elect of the United States of America, Donald Trump has listed Elon Musk, the multi-billionaire Tesla CEO as the head of the newly created Department of Government Efficiency.
Gathered from the BBC, the statement that announced the appointment of Elon Musk and Ramaswamy, former Republican presidential candidate was published by Karoline Leavitt, Donald Trump’s presidential campaign press secretary on X, and by the president-elect on Truth Social.
Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is an advisory department that will dismantle government bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditure, and restructure federal agencies.
“Trump says that the department will be “The Manhattan Project” of our time – The US government programme during World War II, which developed the atomic bomb.”
“The advisory board is to provide guidance from outside the government, and drive out the massive waste and fraud which exist throughout our annual $6.5 trillion of government spending.”
Trump says Musk and Ramaswamy’s work will conclude no later than 4 July 2026.
According to the President-elect, Musk and Ramaswamy had been charged with the authority to conduct sweeping changes to government spending.
Musk says “Doge is America’s last chance” and claims the country will go bankrupt without it. He added that DOGE actions will be posted online for transparency, and there will be leader board for all the “most insanely spending of your tax dollars.”
Musk also claims that 99 federal agencies is “more than enough” – there are currently over 400 agencies and sub-agencies.
Elon Musk promises to make government fun again.
