Operatives from the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Alagbon, Lagos, have arrested seven suspects linked to the killing of Badmus Monsur, an engineer who was murdered during a violent attack on a Lagos State government-allocated property in the Agidingbi area.
The deceased’s employer, Alhaji Akeem Osuolale, Chairman of Nigercat Nigeria Group of Companies, raised alarm over alleged efforts by senior police officers to influence the investigation in favour of the suspects. Speaking to journalists in Ikeja, Osuolale commended the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and CSP Oyewale for their swift action but expressed deep concerns about potential cover-ups.
Osuolale revealed that previous arrests of suspects connected to similar attacks had resulted in their immediate release, accusing the group of using threats and claiming police backing. “These same men had threatened to kill me and my staff, claiming they controlled the police. Now, they’ve made good on that threat by killing my engineer,” he said.
Calling on Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for intervention, Osuolale appealed for justice and protection for his staff.
Police authorities have declined to comment further, stating that the investigation remains ongoing.
