The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested David Moses, a security guard at Clear Hope Foundation Academy in Dawaki, Abuja, in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a school nurse, Mrs. Chinyere Anaene, and a one-year-two-month-old toddler, Nanenter Asher Yese. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, July 23, has shocked the community and drawn widespread outrage.
According to a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, and shared with Persecondnews on Friday, August 1, Moses conspired with his best friend, Sunday Irimiya—currently at large—to carry out the heinous act.
How the Crime Unfolded
- The suspects lured Mrs. Anaene into the school bathroom, where she was attacked and strangled.
- The toddler, Nanenter Yese, was abducted from a classroom and murdered in a similar fashion.
- The victims’ bodies were placed in a sack, transported via a scavenger’s cart, and dumped in a canal.
The police, aided by digital forensics, traced the crime to Yelwa and Uke in Nasarawa State, leading to Moses’ arrest on July 29. Initially believed to be another victim, he later confessed to the crime and led authorities to the location where the remains of the victims were recovered.
Ransom Demand and Investigation
- On the day of the disappearance, the victim’s husband received a ₦250 million ransom demand from Anaene’s mobile phone.
- The FCT Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit immediately launched a manhunt and investigation that led to the breakthrough arrest.
Police Reaction
“The FCT Police Command is deeply saddened by this tragic incident… While no words can ease such a loss, we assure the public that justice will be pursued with full resolve,” the statement read.
The command extended condolences to the bereaved families and urged the public to report suspicious activity through its emergency lines: 08061581938 and 08032003913.
