The Chief od Defence Staff, Geberal Christopher Musa has restated that the Nigeria Armed Forces hope to achieve high targets this year.
General Musa made this declaration while speaking with newsmen on his visit to the military base in Samaru Zangon Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The CDS, in company of senior military officers from the Defence Headquaters, Abuja, along side the General Officer commanding 3 Division, visited the cantonment to inspect the equipment provided for the base to fight insecurity in the region.
General Musa charged his men to remain focused, steadfast and professional in their conduct of safeguarding the country and respect for human right while discharging their duties.
Speaking with journalist after the inspection, General Musa said “we want to make sure we achieve over 80 per cent this year, so that the troops too will be comfortable.”
“The soldiers are in high spirit. We have seen their challenges and we are going to address them.”
“We thank Mr President for the support he has given us. He has promised us that we will get everything we require.” More equipment are still coming in, he added”
On the welfare of the troop, General Musa said that the troop has been adequately taken care of and such no one should complain.
The Commander of Operation Safe Heaven, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar enjoined the troop not to relent in carrying out their duties. He added that motorcycles have been provided to penetrate the terrains and other equipment will be provided to enhance night fighting. “Therefore, we have no reason, we have excuse not to deliver”, he added.
Also, Senator Sunday Marshal, Senator representing the district added his voice saying that the military and the civilian are working together and that within a short period of time there will be stability and development in the region,
According to him there cannot be development without peace.
General Musa also payed a courtesy visited to the palace of the Chief of Cagoro where he reassured the people of military’s commitment towards the safety of the area.
