The Bauchi State Police Command recovered N784,000 from officers found guilty of misconduct, as announced by the Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammed, in a statement detailing the command’s 2024 performance. These funds were returned to victims of extortion, highlighting the force’s effort to address public grievances.
The Command’s Complaint Response Unit, part of the Police Public Relations Department, investigated 10 complaints, leading to these recoveries. Additionally, 18 officers faced disciplinary actions, reflecting the command’s commitment to maintaining accountability. Among these measures:
- 1 police constable was dismissed.
- 4 officers had their ranks reduced.
- 6 received warning letters.
- 4 were reprimanded.
CP Mohammed emphasized the importance of fostering public trust and improving service delivery by addressing professional misconduct within the force. These actions underline a broader commitment to operational integrity and ethical policing.
