Comfort Emmanson, the passenger at the centre of a recent dispute on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos, has appeared before the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) as part of an ongoing inquiry into the incident.
The NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Michael Achimugu, confirmed her appearance in a statement to Vanguard.
Achimugu had earlier revealed on X that several NCAA departments—including Aviation Security, Operations, Licensing and Training Standards, Legal, and Consumer Protection—were working jointly to guarantee an impartial investigation.
“Yesterday in Abuja, the NCAA team met with Julie Edwards and other members of the Ibom Air crew involved in the Comfort Emmanson incident as part of the investigation. Later today, Comfort Emmanson, the passenger, will be meeting with the Authority. She is being accompanied by her lawyer,” Achimugu noted.
Providing further updates, he added: “We have met with her. As we proceed, I will continue to provide updates.”
The altercation, which was widely circulated in a viral video, occurred at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos after tensions flared between Emmanson and airline staff.
Although she was initially charged in court and placed under a lifetime no-fly ban by the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), the sanction was later lifted and the case withdrawn.
