Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has refuted recent rumors about his health, stating that he did not collapse last week as alleged. He described these claims as baseless attempts by certain individuals to gain political advantage.
Lere Olayinka, Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, also dismissed the reports as “fake,” emphasizing that the minister remains in good health and continues to fulfill his official duties without interruption.
Wike further criticized the spread of such rumors, suggesting that those responsible should focus on more constructive endeavors. He reaffirmed his commitment to ongoing projects in the FCT, expressing satisfaction with their progress and the quality of work being done.
These denials come amid heightened political tensions in Rivers State, where Wike is engaged in a power struggle with suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Observers suggest that the spread of misinformation regarding Wike’s health may be an attempt to influence public perception amid these political developments.
