Pastor Tunde Bakare’s visit to President Bola Tinubu has drawn attention for its timing and tone, coming just 45 days after Bakare publicly criticized the administration for “playing God” and steering Nigeria off course. The founder of the Citadel Global Community Church clarified that the meeting was driven by his long-standing vision: to see Nigeria become a functional, united, and prosperous nation in his lifetime.
While Bakare declined to disclose the details of their conversation, he emphasized that his purpose was nation-building and that such dialogues are best left between the parties involved, trusting the President to consider the suggestions shared. He also expressed satisfaction with the cordial reception he received and stressed that his hope rests on divine guidance helping Tinubu make decisions that steer Nigeria away from decline.
His remarks after the meeting took on a reconciliatory, forward-looking tone. He called for national unity, collaboration between Nigeria’s North and South, and a move away from indecision toward concrete action. His vision is for a peaceful, progressive country where citizens support one another and leaders work together effectively. While some may view this visit as a softening of Bakare’s earlier criticism, it also highlights a pragmatic approach—speaking truth to power when necessary, but engaging directly in the pursuit of solutions.
