Popular Nigerian rapper Zlatan Ibile has shared an important piece of advice for upcoming artistes aiming to succeed in the highly competitive Nigerian music industry. According to the “Zanku” crooner, rising stars should prepare not just for fame but also for the emotional challenges that come with it.
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, Zlatan urged aspiring musicians and their sponsors to budget for therapy sessions alongside marketing and promotion expenses.
In his words:
“If you get brother or sister wey be fast rising artist and you believe say he or she go blow, as una dey keep money for marketing and promo, make una dey keep therapist money for one side tooo cos lol!!!”
Zlatan’s statement highlights the emotional toll the entertainment industry can have on artistes, especially after attaining fame. Over the years, several Nigerian musicians have openly discussed battling stress, anxiety, and depression while navigating their careers.
His advice resonates strongly at a time when many creatives are beginning to understand the importance of mental health in sustaining long-term success.
