LAGOS — Social media influencer Ayomiposi Oluwadahunsi, popularly known as Mandy Kiss, has walked back her viral claim that she planned to attempt a “sex marathon” with 100 men in 24 hours, saying the announcement was a publicity stunt to revive dwindling engagement on her platforms.
Her clarification came Friday in a TikTok video, days after the Eselu of Iselu Kingdom, Oba Akintunde Akinyemi, petitioned Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to order her arrest, calling the proposed act “shameful, disgraceful, and a stain on Nigeria’s reputation.”
“I was just trying to see if I was still relevant. Everywhere was dry on my page,” Mandy Kiss said, adding that she hoped to “boost engagement and get adverts.” She also noted she lacked the financial capacity to face potential legal battles, stressing the post “was never meant to be taken seriously.”
The monarch’s petition sparked intense online debate about morality, free expression, and the limits of influencer culture. Critics accused the influencer of courting notoriety at the expense of public decency, while some supporters argued that outrage had amplified a post she now says was a joke.
Authorities have not publicly confirmed any investigation. It remains unclear whether law enforcement will act on the petition, especially given Mandy Kiss’s retraction and insistence that no real-world event was planned.
The episode underscores the high-stakes attention economy driving Nigeria’s creator ecosystem, where provocative content can translate into monetizable traffic—but also into legal and reputational risk. In her video, Mandy Kiss appeared to acknowledge that calculus, saying the stunt was aimed solely at “reviving” her social feeds rather than organizing an actual event.
As of press time, neither the Lagos State Government nor Guinness World Records had issued statements in response to her clarification.
