The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Zone RS2HQ, which covers Lagos and Ogun states, has restated its commitment to deepening collaboration with the Nigerian Army’s 81 Division in a joint effort to strengthen road safety and security across Lagos State.
This assurance was given by the Zonal Commanding Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Ann Oladayo, during a courtesy visit to the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Major General Farouk Mijinyawa, at the Division’s Headquarters in Lagos on Tuesday.
Oladayo, who recently made history as the first female Zonal Commanding Officer of the zone, emphasized that her visit was part of efforts to familiarize herself with key stakeholders and to consolidate existing ties between the FRSC and the Nigerian Army. She noted that a closer alliance in training initiatives, joint operations, and logistical support would be instrumental in addressing the dual challenges of road safety and urban security in a rapidly growing state like Lagos.
“We believe that through joint training, operational synergy, and mutual support, both the FRSC and the Nigerian Army can deliver greater efficiency in protecting lives and property,” Oladayo stated.
She also highlighted key areas of collaboration, including driver training programmes, vehicle plate registration compliance, and the issuance of valid driver’s licences, reaffirming the Corps’ readiness to support the Army in all relevant sectors.
In response, Major General Farouk Mijinyawa congratulated Oladayo on her historic appointment, describing it as a milestone achievement not just for the FRSC but also for women in leadership across security agencies. He commended the FRSC’s efforts in maintaining road discipline and assured that the 81 Division would continue to support and partner with the Corps in future engagements.
