Super Falcons forward, Rasheedat Ajibade, has opened up about her early journey into professional football, revealing that her passion for the sport began on the streets of Mushin, Lagos. According to the Atlético Madrid Femenino star, she started playing football at the tender age of six or seven, despite facing several challenges along the way.
In a recent interview, Ajibade recounted how her love for football grew while playing with boys in her neighborhood. She explained that playing on the streets helped shape her skills and determination, eventually paving the way for her rise to international stardom.
“I started playing football on the streets of Mushin at the age of six or seven. Back then, I didn’t have access to proper facilities, but my passion for the game kept me going,” she said.
Transitioning from street football to professional play was not easy, but Ajibade’s hard work and consistency eventually paid off. Today, she is regarded as one of Nigeria’s most talented female footballers, representing both her country and club with pride.
Ajibade encouraged young aspiring footballers, especially girls, to stay focused, remain dedicated, and believe in their dreams, no matter the obstacles they face.
Currently, the 24-year-old winger plays for Atlético Madrid Femenino in Spain and has become a vital asset for the Super Falcons, Nigeria’s women’s national football team. Her inspiring journey continues to motivate young athletes across Africa.
