First Lady Melania Trump has threatened to sue Hunter Biden for more than $1 billion after he alleged she met her husband through sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Her lawyers called the claim “false, disparaging, defamatory, and inflammatory” and demanded an immediate retraction and apology.
Biden made the remarks in a recent interview, linking the First Lady’s introduction to Donald Trump with Epstein—a claim partially attributed to journalist Michael Wolff, whose own reporting on the matter was retracted by the Daily Beast after legal challenge. There is no evidence supporting the allegation, and a 2016 Harper’s Bazaar profile states Melania met Trump in 1998 at a modeling industry party.
The legal letter accuses Biden of relying on a since-removed article and says the statement has caused “overwhelming financial and reputational harm.” It also accuses him of leveraging the names of others for attention.
The dispute comes amid renewed public pressure for the release of “Epstein files,” though the FBI and Justice Department maintain no incriminating client list exists.
Melania’s team has vowed to pursue legal action if no retraction is made, stating they are working to secure “immediate retractions and apologies” from those who spread the allegation.
