The new Consul General of Brazil to Nigeria, Ambassador Manuel Innocencio De Lacerda Santos Jnr, has vowed to prioritise faster visa processing, tourism promotion, and deeper trade and economic cooperation between both nations.
Speaking at his reception by the Nigeria-Brazil Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ambassador Santos Jnr said his tenure would focus on streamlining visa applications for Nigerians and enhancing bilateral trade and investment opportunities. He stressed that tourism would remain a key agenda, aimed at showcasing Brazil’s rich cultural heritage alongside Nigeria’s vibrant traditions.
He noted that his goals align with the Chamber’s mission to strengthen economic and cultural ties, highlighting recent high-level visits — including President Bola Tinubu’s trip to Brazil and the upcoming visit of Brazil’s Vice President — as opportunities to drive collaboration.
Chamber President, Chief Chika Okafor OFR, called for the revival of the thriving trade relationship enjoyed in the 1970s and 1980s, expressing optimism that a renewed partnership would significantly boost economic cooperation.
The meeting, attended by notable members including Macalexander Alexander, CEO of Visions & Dreams Ltd, and Promoter Uzo Ebejuo, marked what both sides described as the beginning of a new era in Nigeria-Brazil relations, built on mutual growth and shared objectives.
