Nigerian rapper Ice Prince has disclosed that he spent approximately N340 million on cannabis over a six-year period, describing the habit as one of the most expensive personal decisions of his life.
The music star made the revelation during a recent interview while speaking about his lifestyle, finances and personal experiences in the entertainment industry.
According to Ice Prince, the amount reflected years of consistent spending on marijuana, commonly referred to as weed, before he began reassessing some of his habits.
“I spent about N340 million on weed in six years,” the rapper said, adding that he eventually realised the financial and personal impact of the lifestyle.
He explained that the entertainment industry often exposes celebrities to habits and environments that can become difficult to control if not carefully managed.
The artiste, known for several hit songs and his influence in Nigeria’s hip-hop scene, said the experience taught him important lessons about discipline, priorities and financial responsibility.
Ice Prince also encouraged young people and aspiring entertainers to be mindful of the choices they make, warning that excessive indulgence in certain habits could negatively affect their future.
While he did not indicate whether he had completely stopped using cannabis, the rapper suggested he now approaches life differently and is more focused on personal growth and career stability.
His comments have generated widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians debating celebrity lifestyles, substance use and financial management among entertainers.
Some fans praised the rapper for openly discussing his experience, while others expressed concern about the influence such revelations may have on younger audiences.
Cannabis remains illegal for recreational use in Nigeria under existing drug laws, although discussions around regulation and medical use continue in some parts of the world.
Ice Prince rose to prominence in the Nigerian music industry after the success of his breakout single “Oleku” and has remained one of the country’s most recognisable hip-hop artistes over the past decade.
