Three law enforcement officers were shot and killed and two others were critically injured Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 17, 2025, during a warrant service in North Codorus Township, York County, Pennsylvania. The suspect was shot and killed by police.
Officials said the incident stemmed from a domestic-related investigation that began the previous day. The shooting occurred shortly after 2 p.m. ET near Haar and Emig roads in a rural, farm-lined area of the township.
Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Col. Christopher Paris confirmed there is no ongoing threat. The two wounded officers were taken to WellSpan York Hospital and are in critical but stable condition. Identities and specific agencies of the fallen officers have not yet been released.
Gov. Josh Shapiro met with families, ordered flags to half-staff, and called it a “tragic and devastating day” for the Commonwealth. Federal partners including the FBI and ATF are assisting local authorities
