The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has alerted residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to expect temporary interruptions in electricity supply as major road construction projects progress across the city.
In a public notice issued on Tuesday, the TCN stated that portions of its transmission network will be temporarily shut down to allow safe execution of road works around key corridors in Abuja. The company said the decision was taken in coordination with construction contractors to avoid accidents and infrastructure damage.
“Some of our transmission lines pass through areas currently under reconstruction. To ensure the safety of workers and prevent any contact with live power lines, we have scheduled brief outages during specific phases of the project,” the company explained.
The affected areas include parts of Lugbe, Gwagwalada, and the Airport Road corridor, where power disruptions will occur intermittently over the coming weeks.
TCN emphasized that the outages will be managed carefully and that supply will be restored promptly after each phase of the road work. The firm also appealed for public understanding, stressing that the temporary inconvenience is necessary for long-term infrastructure improvement.
Residents and businesses in the affected districts have been encouraged to plan ahead and make contingency arrangements during the maintenance period.
