LONDON, Jan. 3, 2026 — Funeral (Janaza) prayers for Sina Ghami and Abdul Latif “Latz” Ayodele, two close friends and key members of heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua’s team, will be held on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026, at London Central Mosque in Regent’s Park, organisers said.
A notice circulated by Boxing King Media and amplified by Nigerian media said the service will start at 10:00 a.m. at the mosque located at 146 Park Road, London NW8 7RG, adding that the bodies of Ghami and Ayodele had been repatriated to the United Kingdom following the accident in Nigeria.
Ghami, described in multiple reports as Joshua’s long-time strength and conditioning coach, and Ayodele, identified as his personal trainer, died in a road crash on Dec. 29, 2025, in Ogun State. Reuters, citing local police and Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps, reported that the vehicle Joshua was travelling in struck a stationary truck on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway and that initial findings pointed to excessive speed and an unsafe overtaking manoeuvre as likely causes.
Joshua sustained minor injuries and was treated at a hospital, Reuters reported at the time.
Nigerian outlets also reported he later returned to the United Kingdom ahead of the funeral rites for the two men.
In its condolence message, Boxing King Media said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and loved ones,” while describing the pair as more than colleagues to Joshua.
The deaths prompted tributes across the boxing community. The International Boxing Association (IBA) said it was “deeply saddened” by the accident, describing Ghami and Ayodele as respected professionals and “cherished members” of Joshua’s team, while wishing the boxer a full recovery.
Sunday’s Janaza in London is expected to draw family, friends and figures from the sport to honour the two men, who were widely credited with helping shape Joshua’s training routines and preparation during key periods of his career.
