Comfort Emmanson, the Ibom Air passenger recently freed from Kirikiri Correctional Centre following a clash with flight attendants, has not made up her mind on taking legal action against the airline.
Her lawyer, Adefunke Maria, speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Thursday, said: “On the way forward, whether Comfort will allow the sleeping dogs lie, she will inform us… If she is going to press civil charges for compensation, she will let us know. But for now… she just needs to rest, put herself together.”
Viral footage showed Emmanson in a physical altercation with a hostess who blocked her from leaving the plane in Lagos. The incident, which also captured an episode of indecent exposure, drew mixed reactions—some blaming Emmanson, others faulting the airline staff.
Maria accused Ibom Air workers of filming and circulating the video online, calling the act unacceptable.
Emmanson was arrested on arrival, swiftly prosecuted, and remanded, prompting comparisons to the unpunished August 5 incident involving Fuji singer Wasiu Ayinde (Kwam 1) at Abuja airport.
Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo later ordered her release on August 13 and directed that both the criminal charges and lifetime flight ban against her be dropped. Despite this, calls persist on social media for her to seek redress.
