Activist and political commentator Aisha Yesufu has said that the loss of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) senatorial ticket will not derail the broader political movement she supports ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Reacting to recent political developments, Yesufu maintained that electoral setbacks in a particular constituency should not be viewed as a defeat for the larger cause. She argued that political change requires sustained commitment and cannot be measured solely by the outcome of a single contest.
According to her, the movement remains focused on its long-term objectives and will continue to mobilise supporters despite challenges encountered along the way. She stressed that losing the FCT ticket does not diminish the determination of those working toward political reforms and greater citizen participation in governance.
“Yes, we lost the FCT ticket, but that will not stop us,” she said, expressing confidence that the group’s ideals and goals remain intact. She added that political engagement should be driven by principles and a commitment to national progress rather than by individual electoral victories alone.
Yesufu also urged supporters to remain active and committed, noting that political transformation is often a gradual process marked by both successes and setbacks. She emphasised the need for continued organisation, voter education, and grassroots mobilisation ahead of future elections.
Her comments come amid increasing political realignments and early discussions surrounding the 2027 electoral cycle. Analysts note that opposition groups and reform-minded activists are already positioning themselves for what is expected to be a highly competitive political landscape.
The activist has been a prominent voice in civic advocacy and electoral participation campaigns, frequently calling for greater accountability and citizen involvement in governance. Her latest remarks reflect a determination to keep supporters focused on broader objectives despite recent disappointments.
As preparations for 2027 gradually gather momentum, Yesufu’s message signals that some political actors intend to remain engaged and continue pushing for their agenda, regardless of setbacks encountered in the race for elective positions.
