Media entrepreneur and politician Dele Momodu has claimed that Peter Obi exited the African Democratic Congress (ADC) because he was unwilling to face Atiku Abubakar in a direct political contest.
Speaking during a recent interview, Momodu alleged that Obi’s departure from the party was influenced by internal dynamics and the perceived strength of Atiku within the political space. According to him, the former Anambra State governor opted to step aside rather than engage in a potentially difficult contest.
Momodu argued that Atiku remains a dominant figure with significant influence and political structure, suggesting that any aspirant seeking to challenge him must be prepared for a tough battle. He maintained that Obi’s decision reflected a strategic calculation rather than a mere change of platform.
The comments add to ongoing debates over political alignments and rivalries ahead of future elections, as key figures continue to reposition themselves within Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
