Bayern Munich clinched a record-extending 35th Bundesliga crown on Sunday after coming from behind to beat Stuttgart 4-2 at the Allianz Arena, wrapping up the title with four games still to play. Harry Kane scored his 32nd league goal of the season as Vincent Kompany’s side completed another domestic triumph and moved 15 points clear at the top.
The Bavarians had gone into the match knowing a win or draw would be enough after Borussia Dortmund slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Hoffenheim on Saturday. That result left the door open for Bayern, and despite an early scare, they took full advantage to underline their dominance in German football once again.
Stuttgart struck first in the 21st minute when Chris Fuhrich finished from a Bilal El Khannouss assist, briefly silencing the home crowd. But Bayern responded in devastating fashion, turning the game around with three goals in six minutes before halftime. Raphael Guerreiro started the comeback in the 31st minute after a superb run and cutback from Jamal Musiala, before Nicolas Jackson fired the hosts in front two minutes later. Alphonso Davies then added a third in the 37th minute to put Bayern firmly in control by the interval.
Any hopes of a Stuttgart revival faded soon after the restart when substitute Kane struck from close range seven minutes into the second half. The England captain’s goal not only sealed the result but strengthened his grip on the Bundesliga scoring chart, with nine goals now separating him from Robert Lewandowski’s single-season record of 41. Kane’s latest strike also moved him closer to becoming the first player to finish as Bundesliga top scorer in each of his first three seasons in the competition.
Stuttgart managed a late consolation through Chema Andres, but by then Bayern were already in celebration mode. The title is another marker of the club’s extraordinary supremacy: it is Bayern’s 35th German league championship and their 13th in the past 14 seasons. Reuters also noted that Kompany has now delivered back-to-back Bundesliga titles since taking charge in 2024, restoring Bayern’s domestic authority after Bayer Leverkusen broke their run with an unbeaten domestic double in 2024.
The new champions have done it in emphatic style. Bayern have already scored 109 league goals this season, breaking the Bundesliga’s all-time record for goals in a single campaign with four matches still remaining. With a German Cup semi-final against Bayer Leverkusen and a Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain still ahead, Bayern’s pursuit of silverware may not be over yet.
