Former two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has permanently honoured his late associates, Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele, by tattooing their names on his arm months after a tragic accident that claimed their lives in December 2025.
Joshua, 36, was among the occupants of a Lexus SUV involved in a collision with a stationary truck along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State on December 29. While the boxer escaped with minor injuries, Ghami, his strength and conditioning coach, and Ayodele, one of his trainers, died at the scene.
Following the crash, Joshua was treated at a hospital and later discharged. He subsequently returned to the United Kingdom, where he attended the funerals of both men.
A London-based tattoo studio, Fulham Tattoo London, shared photos of the boxer during the session and wrote, “Huge thank you to two-time heavyweight champion of the world Anthony Joshua for unexpectedly and unannounced walking through the door a few weeks ago for his first visit with us at Fulham Tattoo London… what a walk-in!”
The tribute features the names “LATZ” and “SINA” inked beneath the outline of Africa on Joshua’s right bicep — a design he previously had. Though born in Watford, England, to Nigerian parents, Joshua has often spoken proudly of his Nigerian and British roots.
Meanwhile, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said the SUV was “suspected to be travelling beyond the legally prescribed speed limit on the corridor” at the time of the incident.
